About Our Program

  • Shining Star Early Childhood Center has six integrated preschool classrooms.  Each classroom is comprised of 51% regular education students and 49% special education students.  Regular education students pay a tuition fee and must be three years old by August 31 in order to be eligible to attend.

Special education students enter the program through an assessment process resulting in an individualized education program based on state and federal criteria.  Children can be referred for a special education evaluation at age 2 years 6 months.

This preschool also offers a substantially separate classroom for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This classroom is staffed by Milford personnel and is supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).   The classroom is staffed with a special education teacher and instructional assistants.  The emphasis in the classroom is on social skill and language development.  One of the main goals of the classroom is to develop and strengthen readiness skills necessary for full integration.

Children without special needs complete an application process in February.  Enrollment is limited to the number of spaces available.
