Course Description: Students will gain proficiency and confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing in the English Language.
Behavioral Expectations: Students will have respect for themselves and others, classroom materials and the learning environment.
Materials needed:
- A composition notebook, a homework folder and a binder which will remain in the classroom. These will be provided at the beginning of the year.
- Students are required to bring in pencils and their Agenda book daily to class.
- Students will also be required to bring in their Chromebook on a daily basis. It must be charged and ready for use each day.
Grading: Grading is based on a point value system for various assignments.
Homework and Classwork = 10 points Quizzes = 20-30 points
Projects/Written assignments = 50 points Tests = 100 points
Homework/Project Policy: Students are expected to hand in homework on the due date. They are allowed to make up the homework for 50% of the points, due the following day. As per the Student Handbook, students will lose 10 points off for every day a project or written assignment is late. Students will have up to 10 days to turn in a late project or written assignment before a zero is entered.
Absences: Students are expected to see me for missed work during an absence. Students will have one extra day to make up an assignment for each day missed due to an absence, as per the Student Handbook. It is recommended that students stay after for extra help to make up any work they missed.
Extra Help Sessions: My extra help sessions are Mondays and Wednesday from 2:15-3:00, but I am here most days after school to assist students if they need any help.
