Ms. Fiona Lyons
My main goal as a 7th grade Inclusion Teacher is to allow students to succeed and progress in the least restrictive environment alongside their peers with the necessary supports to meet their individual needs academically, socially and emotionally. Students in 7th grade will apply learned skills as they work become independent learners. I, along with my teaching assistant, Mrs. Leasha Smith, provide the necessary teacher and student support within the inclusive classrooms. Along with the core teachers, we support all necessary accommodations and modifications needed for each individual student on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to become successful learners.
As the Inclusion Teacher, I function as a liaison for students, teachers and parents/guardians. I will make every effort to communicate with parents either by phone, e-mail or through their child’s agenda. I encourage parents/guardians to do the same. I am available after school on Tuesday's for any student who requires extra help with homework, studying or assigned projects.
I received my BS in Elementary Education and a minor in Fine Arts from St. Bonaventure University. I earned my Master’s Degree in Moderate Special Needs from Lesley University. I am certified and highly qualified to teach special education at the elementary and middle school grade levels.
