Mr. Rick Cruikshank
Welcome to Seventh Grade Science!
My name is Rick Cruikshank and this is my eighth year as a science teacher at Stacy Middle School. I graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1982 with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Environmental Science. I graduated from Antioch New England University in 1988 with a Masters in Science and Education. I have over 20 years of teaching experience in private and public schools. In addition to teaching, I have worked professionally as a naturalist and a wilderness guide. My Massachusetts teaching license is in General Science grades 5-8.
Seventh grade science includes units of study in chemistry, physics, cell biology, and human body systems. The curriculum is designed to incorporate hands on science learning with students working collaboratively with other students in labs, projects, and other activities. This hands on philosophy requires that the students use the scientific method as they solve problems, perform experiments, and learn basic science concepts.
