• Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

    Brookside continues to strive to make our school a productive and safe environment for all students, families and staff. The following is protocol for arrival and dismissal at Brookside. Car riders are directed to the driveway parallel to the bus entrance. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A ONE WAY/ONE LANE SYSTEM WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 5 MILES PER HOUR. This path will take you around the school, where you may drop off/pick up your child by the gymnasium door. We ask that you hug and kiss your child PRIOR to arrival at the drop off door and that you NOT get out of your car. If your child needs help getting out of the car, a staff member will be present to help keep drop off moving efficiently. As we did last year, a system will be in place to close the car loop to ensure that cars can not gain entrance to our campus during the school day. The chains will be opened at 8:20am each day to allow entry for arrival. This year we will CLOSE THE CAR LOOP AT 8:30am based on the time of the SCHOOL CLOCK. This will help cut down on tardiness, which was quite high last year. After 8:30am you must park your car and walk your child to the sidewalk, where a staff member will be waiting to ensure your child enters the building safely. After 8:40am you must accompany your child into the building to sign them in late.

    Chains will be opened at 2:40pm for dismissal. The car loop will be closed off at the Congress Street Entrance at 2:50pm. If you are on Congress Street when the lane is closed off, you will need to park your car and pick up your child from the lobby.

    NO CHILD SHOULD EVER BE LEFT IN THE BUS LOOP or PARKING LOT AND BE EXPECTED TO WALK THEMSELVES IN TO SCHOOL.

    For CAR RIDER dismissal we ask that you place the CAR SIGN with your child’s last name on your dash board to make the process work smoothly. (This sign will come home on day one.) PLEASE be sure your child understands when he/she is traveling to and from school by car, we will dismiss WALKERS first; through the front entrance, then CAR RIDERS; through the gymnasium entrance, and then BUS students; through the front entrance;

    Also, please note that changes to your child’s regular dismissal procedure should take place for EMERGENCY purposes ONLY and will only be changed with written notification!
