    October 18, 2021 -

Starting in a few weeks, Milford Public Schools will be conducting both routine weekly COVID safety checks AND "test and stay" for our students and staff who have a signed consent form. Each of these testing programs involve a nasal swab that is collected under the supervision of a trained health provider.

    • Weekly routine COVID safety checks help us catch potential spread of the virus before it starts. In almost all cases, it will take less than 24 hours to receive safety check results. Students can continue to come to school while awaiting safety check results as long as they do not have symptoms; they do not need to quarantine while awaiting results. We will notify you only if your child tests positive for COVID-19.
    • "Test and stay" allows students who were exposed to a COVID 19 positive person in the school setting to stay in school. These students may attend school each day (as long as they do not have any symptoms and remain masked) and take a daily rapid COVID test in school. Students will participate in test and stay for 7 days after exposure. Testing is only required on school days.  Students participating in test and stay may attend school-sponsored events and sports that take place on non-school days only if arrangements are made for testing on those days. (Note: If exposures happen out of school, students would not be eligible for "test and stay" and would still need to follow quarantine guidelines.)

If any of your child’s COVID tests are positive, the parents/guardian will be contacted with further instructions. All students who have a positive test must stay home, quarantine and be cleared by the school nurse before returning to school.

Important: In order for your child to participate in the testing program you must complete and sign the CIC Health consent form on behalf of your student.
