Senator Louis P. Bertonazzi Foundation - Outstanding Teacher Award
Each year, the Foundation honors an educator in the Milford School System with its Outstanding Teacher Award. Nominees for the award are recommended by the school councils in the Milford public school system. The criteria for selection includes includes innovative and effective teaching methods, concern for students over and above those of normal, everyday teaching, contributions to the reputation of the Milford schools and involvement in activities relating to and contributing to the improvement of the education of the youth of Milford.

John Costantino, Jo-Ann Morgan, Karen Wilson, Kevin Maines, Frances Morcone,
Francesca Pessotti, James McCallum, Tony Niro, Al DiFonzo, Pam Hunter, Marion
Tobin and Maryann Hanley-Pereira, Jennifer Walsh, Robert Gilmore.
The Foundation, in conjunction with the Milford Italian-American War Veterans Post, also contributes to an “Italian Studies” award presented annually by the Milford Order of the Sons of Italy to a Milford High School student who excels in Italian language studies, and makes a “Citizenship Award” bi-annually to the community among the towns formerly represented by Senator Bertonazzi with the best voter participation.
